Coloradans in Congressional District 3 are responding to President Biden’s State of the Union speech last night where he discussed his economic plans for growing the economy from the middle out and the bottom up.
In Montrose, where a watch party for the State of the Union was held at Silver Basin Brewing, residents responded to what the President had to say, highlighting the work underway to strengthen Colorado’s economy and drive record low unemployment. Through monumental legislation, Biden and Democratic lawmakers are making important progress.
Here is what folks had to say:
"What we heard from Biden last night was about lowering our costs like healthcare, investing in our communities, and delivering good paying jobs across the state. That is an agenda that I feel is in my best interest. These efforts are in clear contrast to Speaker Johnson, Rep. Boebert and the MAGA Republicans’ crusade to slash Social Security and Medicare benefits which show a disregard for the well-being of Colorado seniors like myself.” – Connie Pleinis, Montrose
"President Biden's collaboration with Democrat lawmakers on pro-middle-class economic policies is delivering real results for people. From the Inflation Reduction Act to the CHIPS Act to the infrastructure investments, these laws are more than legislative victories — they're making real change. Job creation has flourished, healthcare expenses have decreased, and the prices of essential goods have become more manageable, alleviating the financial pressure for many of us.” – Criss Lange, Montrose
