Rocky Mountain Values Executive Director Justin Lamorte issued the following statement regarding Republicans in Congress once again pushing us toward a government shutdown—this time, over the holidays

"Instead of supporting a bipartisan funding deal to keep our government running, Republicans have trashed a good deal—throwing the country into chaos, putting hardworking folks’ pay checks at risk and jeopardizing critical services that millions of Americans rely on. Among them is Colorado’s own Rep. Lauren Boebert, who is more interested in political stunts than serving the hardworking people of our state.

"Why? Because Republicans want to force us to raise the debt ceiling—just so they can dole out more tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy and big corporations. Rocky Mountain Values is calling on our congressional delegation to put their constituents first and fight for Coloradans—not for billionaires and chaos."

It's disappointing to see Republicans in Congress once again push us toward a government shutdown, especially during the holiday season. Instead of supporting a bipartisan deal to keep the government running, they are prioritizing political stunts and selfish interests. By pushing to raise the debt ceiling for tax breaks benefiting the ultra-wealthy and big corporations, they risk putting hard-working Americans in jeopardy. As Coloradans, we deserve representatives who fight for the people, not for billionaires and chaos.
